Colorado Technical University has received designation as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance and Cyber Defense from the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security.
The university said Monday that the designation is in recognition of its computer science and information technology program offerings based on the two agencies’ selection criteria issued in 2014.
“We feel extremely honored to be recognized by two federal agencies that are at the forefront of information assurance and cybersecurity,” said Bruce Harmon, program director for engineering, computer science and IT at CTU.
The National CAE designation program includes a review of the college or university candidate based on nine criteria covering its faculty, curriculum and student support resources.
CTU’s designation is focused on its academic programs on homeland security, cybercrime and security, criminal justice and cybersecurity policy, the university said.
CTU, which is one of the first batch of institutions to receive the National CAE designation, was previously designated a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance in 2010.
