Allied Market Research has released a report that forecasts a Hadoop-as-a-service market value of $16.1 billion by 2020 and North America to account for the highest value of $11.6 billion among other regions covered in the study.
The report projects Amazon Web Services, provider of the Amazon Elastic MapReduce HaaS service, to hold nearly 90 percent of the global market, Allied Market Research said in August 2014.
The report also analyzes the strategies adopted by tier-one market players such as AWS, Microsoft, IBM, EMC, Cloudera and Altiscale to help stakeholders gain competitive advantages.
Allied Market Research expects the HaaS market to expand into the end user industries of traditional Hadoop, with a compound annual growth rate of 70.8 percent from 2014 through 2020.
The report contains Porter’s five forces model to assist in understanding the bargaining power of buyers and suppliers and threat of new entrants, Allied Market Research says.
The market research firm expects majority of companies to use the run-IT-yourself type of deployment as opposed to the pure play type.
