DRS- ExecutiveMosaicDRS Technologies has received a contract to manufacture tactical voice switching systems and terminals for integration into New Zealand’s Anzac-class frigates.

DRS serves as the primary subcontractor to Lockheed Martin under the Royal New Zealand Navy’s vessels communications modernization initiative, DRS said Wednesday.

Steve Zuber, vice president and general manager of DRS Technologies’ Canadian subsidiary, said the company will provide Royal New Zealand Navy with a shipboard integrated communications system that is designed to leverage an installed base being used by the navies of Canada, Australia and the U.S.

The company will also deliver SHINCOM 3100 switching technology, a public address server, recorder storage units, console dual screen terminal, a helicopter audio distribution system and an Avaya-made phone system through the contract.

New Zealand’s navy is scheduled to receive the first of two shipsets from DRS in early 2016.
