A Serco Group-led team has won a potential five-year, $185 million contract to support freight and passenger services for the North South Railway network in Saudi Arabia.
Serco will collaborate with Network Rail Consulting and the Freightliner Group to provide infrastructure management and technical services to Saudi Railway Co. through the agreement, Serco said Monday.
Rupert Soames, CEO of Serco Group, said the contract win is “aligned with our strategy of building an international public service business specialising in transport, justice and immigration, defense, citizen services and healthcare.”
The consortium will also work to help SAR develop and implement railway operating systems and procedures as well as provide training and technology expertise to SAR personnel.
Saudi’s North South Railway spans approximately 1,709 miles.
