Health IT company Cerner Corp. has selected Cloudera’s enterprise data hub to power its big data platform in an effort to analyze healthcare information and improve patient outcomes.
Mike Olson, founder and chief strategy officer for Cloudera, said Thursday the company will work with Cerner “to capture, organize, analyze and act†on healthcare data from various sources.
Cloudera’s data hub provides a holistic view of Cerner’s big data platform and helps the company handle multiple clusters, Cloudera says.
Cerner picked Cloudera’s offering after evaluating the data center’s management tooling, scalability, performance, price, security, integration, training, support options and the company’s involvement in the open source community.
Ryan Brush, senior director and engineer at Cerner, added that his company now uses Cloudera’s service to “determine the probability that a patient has a bloodstream infection.â€
Cerner’s data hub houses more than two petabytes of data in a multitenant environment.
