Dan Helfrich, federal civilian sector leader at Deloitte‘s consulting practice, believes that the GovCon sector will see opportunities in areas such as back-office operations, mobility and human capital programs in 2015 to support government modernization efforts.
He noted that agencies can adopt a shared services model to help with the delivery of citizen services and drive cost efficiency.
The government also works to keep pace with the digital age and transform into a mobile-first organization by deploying digital tools to engage and interact with citizens, Helfrich said.
He urges agencies to invest and innovate in leadership development and performance management as well as set metrics-based program goals.
“By articulating a big, tangible goal, it sends a message of importance that gives stakeholders something to rally around,” he said.
Helfrich added that it also works as motivation to employees, private-sector partners and citizens to become involved in the agency mission.
