FireEye and Singapore Telecommunications have opened a joint Advanced Security Operations Center that collaborates with Singtel’s network operations center and FireEye’s global ASOC network to offer their combined security and “info-communications” technologies.
FireEye said Wednesday the ASOC is located in Singapore and houses 50 security professionals who work to deliver threat detection, prevention and response services to Asia-Pacific customers.
“We are witnessing a new cyber arms race with nation-states and sophisticated criminal organizations operating with anonymity to breach almost any network at will,” said FireEye CEO David DeWalt.
“The economic growth and geographic proximity of Southeast Asia has made it one of the most active regions in the world for advanced cyber attacks.”
The new ASOC features a local data store to host data locally and connectivity with the FireEye Dynamic Threat Intelligence cloud-based network to enable cyber information sharing, FireEye said.
The two companies also jointly released a Southeast Asia cyber threat report that indicates 23 percent of Singapore-based customers faced advanced persistent threats within the latter half of 2014.
FireEye said the “Southeast Asia: An Evolving Cyber Threat Landscape” report also found that the government and telecommunication sectors across Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam experienced the most number of APTs during the same time period.
