Parsons has won a 10-year contract to upgrade the traffic signal control system of the city of Mississauga in Ontario, Canada, with the Advanced Transportation Management System platform and provide associated services, software and hardware.
The company said Monday it will leverage the transportation capabilities of its Delcan subsidiary as it designs, develops, installs and tests ATMS as the program’s prime contractor.
“Cities across the globe face the challenge of coping with growing populations and increased traffic congestion,” said Todd Wager, Parsons group president.
He added that the Intelligent Networks ATMS works to foster traveler safety and an enhanced transportation environment.
The contract also includes transition management, support and maintenance services, and ancillary audiovisual equipment and traffic signal controllers, Parsons said.
The company noted that Mississauga’s current traffic management system is more than two decades old.
