CellTowerOceus Networks, PMC Associates and Fujitsu‘s network communications business have partnered to build New Jersey’s 4G LTE broadband network for first responders – called JerseyNet — to facilitate public safety communications during emergencies, disasters and similar incidents.

The companies said Wednesday PMC will provide network integration and support services, Fujitsu will oversee the network’s wireless and wireline backhaul while Oceus will provide its Xiphos Responder product and the radio access network.

“This contract is under the auspices of the [Broadband Technology Opportunities Program] grant supported by FirstNet,” Randy Fuerst, Oceus president and CEO, said in an interview posted Dec. 16 on ExecutiveBiz.

JerseyNet will feature deployable network nodes for remote and mobile communications and a network design that helps first responders from different jurisdictions exchange information, the companies said.

“New Jersey is the first state in the country to implement deployable networks utilizing Cells on Wheels (COWs) and Systems on Wheels (SOWs),” said Bryan Casciano, PMC’s vice president of sales.
