Exelis is set to build additional pneumatic carriage and release systems for Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
Exelis will supply the item’s eighth lot for the F-35 fighter jet under the low rate initial production contract with Lockheed, Exelis said Wednesday.
Pete Martin, vice president and general manager of Exelis’ electronic attack and release systems business, said the company intends for the systems to assist aircrews achieve mission success.
The carriage and release system, which Exelis is scheduled to deliver in April 2016, uses compressed air technology designed to aid F-35 crews in transporting mission payloads.
