Mission Secure Inc. has teamed up with Perrone Robotics and the University of Virginia to launch a pilot program intended to protect autonomous ground vehicles from cyber threats, Defense Systems reported Friday.
George Leopold writes the team will demonstrate the Defense Department-funded project by simulating cyber attacks against onboard control systems that are used to operate the vehicles.
The demonstration aims to develop detection systems and cyber defense technologies for the driverless vehicles, according to the report.
The team said the cyber defense system could also apply to commercial vehicles and critical infrastructure, Defense Systems reports.
Leopold writes Mission Secure will use its cybersecurity technology to monitor, detect and combat cyber attack scenarios.
