Stephen Szeremeta serves as general counsel for Avaya Government Solutions, where he is responsible for the operation of the legal and contracts departments.

He joined Avaya in 2010 after time as chief legal officer at Nortel Government Solutions.

Before Nortel Government, Szeremeta was responsible for Nortel’s North American customer contracts team and was Nortel’s lead enterprise sales attorney and legal counsel for the existing federal business.

He has also served as general counsel for Lockheed Martin‘s air traffic management group, where he provided legal support for the company’s business with the Federal Aviation Administration.

Before Lockheed, Szeremeta held legal positions at IBM and then Loral Corp. between 1987 and 1996.

Prior to IBM, he was an attorney with the Government Accounting Office in its bid protest group.

He is a member of the New York State and District of Columbia Bar Associations and is also a member of the American Corporate Counsel Association.

Szeremeta received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Union College in 1979 and his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University in 1982.
