Chris Finan: Malware Against Mobile Payment to ‘Become More Prevalent’ in 2015

Chris Finan, head of Manifold Security, believes malware that targets mobile payment credentials “will become more prevalent” in 2015, Nextgov reported Wednesday.

Cyber experts forecast that hackers will resort to new methods for cyber attacks against government agencies and commercial entities, Aliya Sternstein reports.

Finan, a former White House cyber adviser and cyberwarfare planner for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, told Nextgov hackers will profit from stolen sensitive data as C-level executives are concerned about data leaks they believe could damage their reputation.

Dave Aitel, a former computer scientist at the National Security Agency, also told Nextgov he expects wiper attacks to become the top threat to “U.S. corporations, critical infrastructure, state-local governments and the federal government.”

This form of attack is designed to destroy and leak government data, according to the report.

Sternstein writes other cyber attack methods hackers will work to pollute news sites with malware, control systems through online and real-world trespasses and corrupt computer networks.
