6Wresearch has released a report that projects the global biometrics market to hit $21.9 billion by 2020.
The report cites the Asia-Pacific region as an emerging market leader due to what 6Wresearch notes as  “increasing government spending†on information security and biometric projects, the research firm said in November.
6Wresearch lists China, Japan, South Korea and India as “the prime revenue generating countries†in the biometrics market in Asia-Pacific.
The report also sees an increase in demand for biometrics devices in Sri Lanka and Philippines as the two countries will kick off biometrics-based passports from 2015 onward.
6Wresearch forecasts North America to lead the overall biometrics market, with the U.S. as the major revenue generating country in the region due to “increasing homeland security, government spending, research and development activities.â€
