Lockheed Martin has deployed its Skunk Works Enterprise Open Systems Architecture to integrate multiple sensors that are compliant with the U.S. Air Force‘s Open Mission Systems standard into the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft.
The company said Dec. 10 that the three-week flight test series utilized Lockheed’s mission management software, an IP-based data link and four OMS-compliant sensor payloads to perform mission operations.
Rob Weiss, executive vice president and general manager of Lockheed Martin Skunk Works, said that the company eyes further open architecture support for the OMS program.
The demonstration included on-board contingency planning, application hosting, software separation and other capabilities, Lockheed said.
The company is part of the OMS collaborative working group alongside the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office, Warner Robins Air Logistics Center and the following industry partners:
