MTN Government has expanded its X-band military satellite communications service to small aperture terminal users across Southwest Asia and Europe.
MTNGOV said Monday it extended the reach of a satcom antenna technology that is installed at the firm’s Spain-based Santander Teleport and is designed to support the XSTAR commercial satellite network.
“The Santander Teleport is now licensed to offer X-band services for mobile, aviation and remote operations using terminals less than a meter in diameter,” said Scott Davis, senior director of engineering at MTNGOV.
Davis added the company also seeks to provide the offering to U.S. defense organizations.
MTNGOV configured its antennas to operate within cross-strapped and steerable spot beams as well as to support small satellite ground systems in remote locations.
A Spanish oceanographic ship operator uses the X-band service for logistics, research and transport operations, MTNGOV says.
