Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has won a $72.3 million contract to deliver target drones and technical services to the U.S. Air Force.
The company’s Composite Engineering Inc. subsidiary will execute the order for lot 11 aerial targets, non-recurring engineering and support to the client, Kratos said Monday.
Kratos’ Micro Systems company will also supply the command and control and flight computer systems and Herley Industries will deliver additional avionic systems to the Air Force.
The award contains options for lots 12 and 13 and the Kratos subsidiaries will execute the order through 2018.
Jerry Beaman, president of Kratos’ unmanned systems division, said the company will provide products and services to the Air Force’s aerial targets program office with the goal of helping the customer “hone the skills of our military pilots and aircrew.”
The target drone systems are designed to simulate performance of threat aircraft and missiles.
