Inmarsat has demonstrated its L-band terminal prototype in a move to meet the requirements of intelligence and media customers.
The L-band Advanced Communications Element terminal transmitted 10 megabytes per second of video from the Middle East and Africa regions over the Alphasat satellite during the test, Inmarsat said Friday.
Peter Hadinger, president of Inmarsat’s U.S. government business unit, said the company intends to help its partners add new functions into their Inmarsat satellite communications services with the L-band technology.
“Today’s government agencies and military forces are more mobile than ever, and require very nimble communication solutions,†Hadinger added.
The L-band terminal system is designed for broadcast and video to mission-critical military operations.
