IBM has developed and patented an automated, analytics-based technique for the movement of workloads between cloud centers in an effort to help bolster the performance of cloud computing systems.
The company said Tuesday the “dynamic” cloud management technology uses analytics to determine the optimal allocation of cloud resources and works to provide greater control over deployments and workloads.
“Cloud delivery models are evolving and maturing and are creating new possibilities for end-users and third-party service providers to lower costs for IT deployments as they enter new markets and create new solutions,” said Leonard Hand, IBM’s lead inventor on the patent.
The technology is labeled as “Routing Service Requests Based on Lowest Actual Cost within a Federated Virtual Service Cloud” on the patent award.
IBM said it built the cloud management technique to streamline the operations of multiple cloud hubs, reduce latency in deployment and help service providers work with customers to use a pay-as-you-go model.
