General Dynamics’ land systems business unit has been awarded a $99.7 million contract from the U.S. Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command to produce Abrams tanks for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia intends to upgrade the country’s fleet of tanks with the Saudi M1A2 Abrams tanks through the foreign military sales deal, General Dynamics said Tuesday.
The award is a follow-on contract for the modernization of M1A1 and M1A2 tanks to the M1A2S standard.
General Dynamics will perform the work at its Lima, Ohio-based joint systems manufacturing center through July 2016.
