Exelis has been awarded a $6.3 million task order to manufacture portable simulation systems for the U.S. Air Force to test radar warning receivers of multiple aircraft platforms.
The order is for the company’s AN/PLM-4 Radar Signal Simulators and falls under a contract the company won in July 2012, Exelis said Monday.
Jennifer Schoonover, vice president of the communications solutions business line at Exelis, said the technology is built to ensure that sensors for tactical air and ground vehicles can work to detect threats.
The company designed the simulator to help users assess electronic surveillance, countermeasure and warfare systems on rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft, surface ships, submarines and land vehicles.
Exelis will produce the technology at its facility in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
