Cubic will provide its Urban Operations Training System to Canada’s defense department under a $12 million contract modification for an initial training instrumentation phase that runs through December 2015.
The company said Tuesday it will perform system integration and validation as UOTS expands the Weapon Effects Simulation system with training capability using an urban village environment.
Dave Schmitz, president of Cubic Defense Applications, said that UOTS works to “prepare warfighters to engage in the complex and constantly changing urban environment and help develop warfighters’ intuitive decision-making skills.”
As lead systems integrator on the program, Cubic anticipates additional task orders to install devices such as video equipment and servers and special effects generators and track the training scenario for real-time and after-action view.
The system works to help evaluators provide feedback to soldiers on their tactics and procedures, Cubic said.
