Strategy Analytics predicts spending on airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance technology for electronic warfare operations will increase in the U.S., Russia, China and India during the next nine years.
The global airborne ISR sector is projected to grow at a 3.2 percent compound annual growth rate between 2013 and 2023 to a total market value of $28 billion by 2023, Strategy Analytics said Oct. 14.
Investments in manned and unmanned surveillance platforms globally could also drive the market’s growth in the coming years, the report states.
“Airborne ISR assets will be critical to countering both asymmetric and conventional warfare threat environments as global militaries adjust to the shifting battle-space paradigms of net-centricity, cyber warfare and electronic warfare,” said Asif Anwar, director at Strategy Analytics’ advanced defense systems service.
Anwar added military organizations could seek multimission technologies due to tighter defense budgets.
The market research firm also projects the airborne early warning and control segment to experience the fastest growth and expects to see increased demand for patrol aircraft in countries with large-area maritime boundaries.
