STG Founder, Chairman and CEO Simon Lee has received the George Washington University President’s Medal for his contributions to the GovCon field and support for the university’s academic and alumni programs.
GWU said Thursday Lee is the first Korean-American to receive the award.
“I am proud to bestow this special honor on him for his unwavering dedication to the George Washington University, his achievements as a visionary entrepreneur, and his leadership in fostering educational exchanges,” said Steven Knapp, GWU president.
The university honored Lee at a ceremony Wednesday.
Lee has endowed undergraduate and graduate exchange programs for students and professors of GWU and Korea University, where he respectively holds his master’s and bachelor’s degreefrom.
GWU has appointed him to the School of Engineering and Applied Science national advisory council, inducted him into the Engineering Hall of Fame in 2010 and bestowed him the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award in 2012.
Lee previously worked at MCI before he founded STG in 1986.
