A Naval Surface Warfare Center division has requested information on potential sources of equipment intended to detect trace amounts of explosives.
NSWC’s explosive ordnance disposal technology unit seeks to leverage industry’s existing platforms that can identify triacetone triperoxide, urea nitrate, potassium chlorate and ammonium nitrate mixtures, the Department of the Navy said Nov. 13 in a FedBizOpps notice.
The branch wants the explosives trace detection tools for military and security applications in both indoor and outdoor environments.
The agency will accept input through Dec. 15 and plans to choose technology submissions for laboratory and field comparative assessments.
