Lockheed Martin and Concord Blue have expanded their partnership to build a power plant in Herten, Germany, that will be designed to generate up to five megawatts of biomass electricity.
Lockheed said Wednesday it will design, construct and engineer the bioenergy generation facility with the goal of delivering electric power to approximately 5,000 households and commercial establishments throughout the city.
The plant will use a Concord Blue patented technology intended to convert organic waste into sustainable energy through gasification.
Last month, Lockheed signed an agreement to help Concord Blue manufacture the latter company’s Reformer waste converter.
The firms also collaborated in 2013 to develop a “clean energy” system that seeks to reduce waste disposal, climate control and energy security problems.
