Neel Mehta
Dr. John Evans serves as corporate vice president of technology and innovation at Lockheed Martin and oversees the company’s technical strategies in the cybersecurity, social media analytics, autonomous systems and healthcare markets.
His work also includes collaborating with academic, the government and industry to help organizations access technologies and attain industrial participation goals.
Dr. Evans previously managed space communications, microtechnology and nuclear energy programs at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Before DARPA, he served as an energy consultant for the Office of Technology Assessment, as chief technology officer of Microfabrica and as a microelectromechanical systems scientist at Becton Dickinson.
He is a member of the American Society for Mechanical Engineering and the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers and serves on the boards of Lockheed’s Saudi Arabian business, the U.S. Council on Competitiveness, the National Science Foundation and the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Evans has been awarded 10 U.S. patents to date and received a DARPA Innovation Award and a Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service, among other awards.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Carleton College, an M.B.A. from Duke University and a master’s degree civil engineering and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.
