BAE Systems will develop a blueprint for a future-proof networked communications system under a $3.2 million contract from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.
Work on the open system architecture is part of the agency’s Communications in Contested Environments initiative, which seeks to come up with flexible, rapidly deployable equipment that can adapt to changing threats, match a variety of applications and support technology upgrades.
Michael V. Beltrani, director of business development at BAE, said the company will seek to leverage its 25 years of Link 16-related experience to carry out the project.
“With our role in the C2E program, we’re not only addressing technological threats that we anticipate our adversaries will use tomorrow, we’re looking decades into the future and building a system that can adapt and flex to support a high level of change and advancement in the years ahead,†Beltrani said.
