David Overos, director of product marketing at Software AG, has highlighted several trends in cloud computing and hybrid integration areas.
Overos wrote in a blog post published Wednesday that “the number of cloud services used in large organizations is proliferating.”
He says there is a growing landscape of cloud services ranging from customer relationship management, enterprise resource planning, human resource, finance applications, data storage services, infrastructure services and social apps.
Overos also observed that much of the growth of cloud services comes from enterprises.
“Primarily, it’s because the direct stakeholders for these services, i.e., business people, are buying them directly from the vendor, sometimes buying them online through websites, and sometimes buying them directly and bypassing the CIO organization,” he wrote.
Consequently, Overos added, business users who buy software-as-a-service applications encounter integration challenges.
Organizations seek integration products that non-IT personnel will be able to use as well as can fulfill the demands, Overos wrote.
Businesses also purchase SaaS applications to gain leasing benefits of subscription, up-to-date user interface and the elimination of hardware requirements, he added.
