Raytheon seeks to address operational efficiency and product security at its New Mexico facilities with the construction of of a new $4.4-million warehouse on the Navajo Nation semi-autonomous territory near Farmington.
The company broke ground on the 30,000-square-foot facility this week and construction is scheduled for six months to start in December 2014, Raytheon said Tuesday.
“Raytheon values its longstanding relationship with the Navajo Nation,” said Taylor Lawrence, Raytheon Missile Systems president.
“The important work done here at [the Raytheon Dine Facility] provides jobs on the Navajo Nation and helps to preserve freedom around the globe.”
This groundbreaking ceremony also marked Raytheon’s 25 years at Dine, which does cabling, mechanical and electromechanical assembly work on the company’s defense-related products.
Raytheon indicated that the materials for use at Dine as well as all finished projects will be stored at the new building, slated to be operational by September 2015.
