An Elbit Systems subsidiary has been selected to test the Department of Homeland Security‘s broadband services for public safety operations.
Elbit Systems of America will demonstrate WideBridge, which works to combine mission systems with the Federal Information Processing Standards-approved BlackBerry BES10 workspace and Etherstack’s P.25 networks, Elbit Systems said Tuesday.
“Ongoing efforts to establish important interoperable broadband solutions for the FirstNet LTE infrastructure is a high priority at Elbit Systems,” said Raanan Horowitz, Elbit Systems of America’s president and CEO.
DHS wants examine the idea of using LTE broadband networks to access multimedia services through the demonstration.
WideBridge works to FirstNet and commercial LTE networks to deliver broadband communication services to federal, state and local public safety agencies.
WideBridge is also built to support push communications, voice and video conferencing, video streaming, video network sensors, map activated multimedia services, command and control, P.25 interoperability and off-network broadband connectivity.
