HitachiHitachi Data Systems has introduced a set of hardware and software products for law enforcement and emergency organizations to collect, analyze and integrate disparate information during a critical situation.

The Hitachi Visualization portfolio includes video capture and gateway appliances as well as map-based applications intended to help public safety personnel manage incident data in real-time, the company said Thursday.

“Some of the greatest barriers to public safety are the lack of access to comprehensive live information, poor ability to extract insights from that information, and limited tools to collaboratively respond faster than a situation develops,” said Mark Jules, HDS vice president of public safety and data visualization.

Jules added the company’s new technology offerings aim to address challenges in emergency data management.

The cloud-based platforms are designed to integrate other public safety equipment such as license plate recognition, gunfire locator, and computer-assisted dispatch systems.

According to HDS, the analytics product uses algorithms to identify correlations across video feeds, social media and online news.

Hitachi Visualization is also intended to offer aggregated intelligence that users can access and share through networked devices anytime and anywhere.
