Iridium Communications has agreed to integrate its satellite communications system into the core transportation and logistics offering of Trimble.
Trimble will offer the product with Iridium’s satellite machine-to-machine connectivity services in Europe and other regions worldwide, Iridium said Thursday.
David Wigglesworth, vice president and general manager for Americas and global M2M services at Iridium, said Iridium’s global coverage “will play an important role in Trimble’s global vision for making companies more productive, anywhere their work takes them.”
Iridium already provides satellite connectivity for PeopleNet and Geotrac, Trimble companies that provide transportation and fleet management services to customers.
“As we seek more ways to support companies’ success in the global economy and expand into regions where cellular coverage isn’t ubiquitous, it’s important that we ensure our customers are able to maximize the value our solutions provide,” said Ron Konezny, VP of global transportation and logistics at Trimble.
