BAE Systems has contracted the Hydro Group underwater cables supplier to deliver a hull penetrator tool for the U.K. navy’s new fleet of submarines for $3.3 million.
Work on the development, manufacture and validation of the through-hull connectors will be done in Scotland over a two-year period, Hydro Group said Friday.
BAE will install the underwater connection system on its Successor vessels to give the submarines resistance to harsh subsea elements and shock.
The company is the industry lead on the U.K. defense ministry’s Successor program.
