Darryl Shaw, director of healthcare solutions and new product development at Verizon Enterprise, says his company is seeing higher rates adoption of cloud services for healthcare delivery among customers.
Carlos Arcila, external communications manager for Verizon Enterprise, wrote Thursday that chief information officers are moving to migrate their services to cloud environments in order to fulfill Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
“By outsourcing their IT needs to cloud service providers, a healthcare system can focus on its core competencies – providing care for patients,” Arcila wrote.
“Healthcare and life sciences-enabled cloud has come a long way and our customers’ perceptions are changing – we’re seeing adoption accelerating with [customers] increasingly looking to the cloud as an option to give their organizations more agility in the industry,” Shaw said.
Arcila also added that healthcare organizations work to achieve “three pillars” of healthcare by using mobile health platforms, healthcare-enabled cloud services and infrastructure-as-a-service.
The Institute for Healthcare Improvement established those pillars to help the healthcare industry expand access to care, enhance patient outcomes and reduce cost.
