Engility has been awarded a $24.6 million contract to support the U.S. Agency for International Development in a program aimed at helping the government of Rwanda to grow that nation’s agricultural industry.
The company said Thursday its technical advisers will work with USAID and the Rwandan government to encourage agriculture-related private investments in the African country.
“Our team of professionals in Rwanda looks forward to working with USAID, Rwandan government agencies and smallholder producers to strengthen the agricultural economy there,” said Tony Smeraglinolo, Engility president and CEO.
Rwanda’s government also seeks to secure food supply for rural communities and improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers through the initiative, according to Engility.
The company says it has supported natural resource management, ecotourism and rural highway development projects in Rwanda during the past two decades.
