TeleCommunication Systems said it plans to lend its navigation and automotive telematics experience to Dallas-based AT&T’s connected car initiative.
Under the agreement, the company will release its TCS Location ToolKit to third-party developers, automakers and mobile operators through the AT&T Drive Studio facility, the company said Sept. 9.
The TCS platform offers an integrated in-car solution with maps, local search, navigation and location tracking.
“TCS is committed to expanding the availability of navigation services in today’s connected cars, and delivering a superior in-car experience to drivers,” said Jay Whitehurst, TCS commercial software group president.
Drive Studio provides the connected car industry with options on what services and solutions they want to market to their customers.
The 5,000-square-foot innovation and testing center is located in Atlanta, Georgia.
