FireEye has been awarded a contract to provide Laya Healthcare with threat monitoring tools for the Irish insurance company to secure its data..

“We’ve worked with a number of traditional security providers over the years, and will continue to do so, but with the added security of FireEye monitoring for any threats that get through these defenses,” said Ian Brennan, Laya Healthcare information technology director.

According to Laya, the FireEye services will protect the patient details of close to half a million of its customers.

FireEye cited a report on regional advanced threats that shows healthcare as the fourth most targeted industry by cyber threat actors in Europe.

“With cyber attackers prepared to use any avenue to compromise healthcare organizations, it is vital for the industry to keep their security up to date to ensure that patient’s records and financial details are secure,” said Richard Turner, FireEye vice president for Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
