Lockheed Martin has selected a subsidiary of IBC Advanced Alloys to supply beryllium-aluminum cast components for the F-35 jet’s electro-optical targeting system under a $2 million initial contract.
IBC Engineered Materials will perform engineering and hard-tooling services and use the Beralcast beryllium-aluminum alloy to build an EOTS azimuth gimbal housing for the F-35, IBC said Monday.
“A key attribute of our relationship with Lockheed Martin is flexibility and collaborative engineering,” said Ray White, president of IBC Engineered Materials.
Pre-production on the aircraft components is ongoing at IBC’s manufacturing plant in Wilmington, Massachusetts and IBC plans to begin deliveries later this year.
