mark-nackman_smallMark J. Nackman serves as vice president and general counsel for General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems and holds responsibility for legal, export, contracts and subcontracts.

Prior to his current role, he served as assistant general counsel and supported both General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems’ cyber systems division and General Dynamics Fidelis Cybersecurity Solutions.

Nackman is also an adjunct professor on the faculty of George Washington University’s Law School and teaches in the scholarly writing program.

Previously, he served as VP and associate general counsel for ATK‘s missile products group.

Prior to that, he served as both a civilian attorney-adviser and active duty Judge Advocate with the U.S. Air Force.

In 2005, he served as the Staff Judge Advocate for Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Nackman is a recipient of an American Bar Association Section of Public Contract Law Writing Competition award (2nd Place – Division II, 2010) and is a winner of the National Contract Management Association’s W. Gregor Macfarlan Excellence in Contract Management Research and Writing Program (1st Place – Graduate Division, 2009).

He is also a recipient of the Washington, D.C. Chapter of the NCMA’s Outstanding Academic Achievement Award (2010) for his work in the government procurement law program at GWU’s law school.

Nackman holds a bachelor’s degree political science from Purdue University, a juris doctorate from Valparaiso University’s law school, a master’s degree in government procurement law with highest honors, from GWU’s law school and has completed executive education at the University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business.

He is a life member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans, and is active in the NCMA – the National Defense Industrial Association’s legal committee – and the ABA, where he is the co-chair of the Aerospace & Defense Industries Committee.

His military decorations include the Air Force Commendation Medal (with oak leaf cluster), the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon (with gold border).
