Hong Kong-based Deep Knowledge Ventures has invested in space development firm Transplanetary to help develop the Space Program Ontologically Computed Knowledge program to guide DKV through its investment decisions in the space sector.
Deep Knowledge Ventures said Wednesday SPOCK is a machine learning program that uses publicly-available data on the global space ecosystem from commercial, government and academic space organizations.
DKV will analyze data to draw a road map for space exploration and settlement for investors, analysts, industry professionals and space enthusiasts to acquire information on investment opportunities, industry growth and other space sector concerns.
SPOCK considers technological maturity, market outlook and other factors to make investment recommendations much like the VITAL program for the life sciences sector, according to DKV.
Transplanetary is working to develop a web intelligence platform to use artificial intelligence technology to provide “real-time insight” into the space ecosystem.
