The government of Croatia has collaborated with IBM and APIS IT to deploy an information technology infrastructure designed to help Croatian public agencies deliver mobile services to citizens.
Crotia’s m-government program employs an IBM mainframe computer and seeks to help people to access passport, voting registration and tax services through mobile devices, IBM said Thursday.
The IBM System Z platform is built to protect confidential data and integrate applications across multiple organizations, according to the company.
“Through our partnership with APIS IT, we have put in place a core infrastructure that helps to reliably and securely handle high volumes of data and transactions, and allowing easy access to government services,” said Damir Zec, country sales leader for IBM’s Croatian business.
“With one password and one user name it is now possible to electronically walk among public institutions,” added Danijela Marovic, managing director of business operations at APIS IT.
IBM says the program also offers Croatians an option to receive information through an e-Citizen inbox as well as message alerts by downloading the mPretinac application.
The firm’s mainframe system will also work help government users standardize registry of tax, birth, death and social security documents, according to IBM.
