The Transaction Processing Performance Council has rolled out a new benchmarking tool to cater to big data systems that Cisco’s Raghunath Nambiar indicated have become a “critical†element of a company’s information technology platform.
TPCx-HS aims to generate vendor-neutral reports on hardware and software performance, including metrics for price and energy consumption, TPC said Monday.
According to Nambiar, chairman of the TPCx-HS committee, the express-class benchmark offers faster deployment times compared to the enterprise-class alternative.
TPC said industry participants of the 2013 Technology Conference on Performance Evaluation and Benchmarking had identified express-class database benchmarking on big data systems as a priority.
The kit is now available for download on the TPC website.
