abstract spaceTeleCommunication Systems Inc. has teamed up with O3b Networks to provide O3b’s satellite network services to TCS’ government and commercial clients through contract vehicles.

“D” D’Ambrosio, O3b Networks executive vice president of government solutions, said Monday TCS will deploy communications services to remote areas with “O3b’s fiber speed and satellite reach.”

O3b’s medium Earth-orbit constellation of satellites provides a throughput of up to 1.6 gigabytes per second and latency under 150 milliseconds, TCS says.

“O3b state-of-the-art satellites offer game-changing technology as they are able to deliver higher capacity and lower latency at lower prices than legacy GEO satellites,” said Michael Bristol, TCS government solutions group president.

O3b launched a new satellite in July to expand its constellation to eight satellites and four additional satellites are set for launch in 2015.
