Lockheed Martin has built a platform for testing maritime intelligence, communications or sensor technologies before their deployment.
The Maritime Test Bed is designed to simulate environments at sea and on shore and employs an open-source architecture that works to access multiple data sources for testing, Lockheed said Tuesday.
Rob Smith, vice president of C4ISR at Lockheed’s information systems and global solutions, said the business aims for the U.S. Navy to use the system to validate intelligence sharing technology.
The company demonstrated how the testbed could integrate data from the Aegis combat weapon system and ISR sensors to create a visualization of the battlefield.
According to Lockheed, the testbed worked to collect, analyze and distribute information to simulated naval platforms during the demo.
Lockheed also designed the system to connect with the Secret Defense Research and Engineering Network and the Defense Research and Engineering Network.
