software engineeringHP and Avaya have partnered to combine their technologies into one management product suite, an agreement company executives believe can address growing demand for the service.

Under the pact spanning several years, HP infrastructure will host Avaya’s unified communications and contact center software to provide an as-a-service business collaboration tool, the first of its kind in the market, according to HP.

Mike Nefkens, executive vice president and general manager for HP Enterprise Services, said support for Avaya’s products presents HP with an opportunity to refine its own capabilities, especially in contact center and business process services, and customer experience management.

“This agreement reinforces HP’s commitment to the mobility and workplace market and helps to grow HP’s presence in the end-user space,” Nefkens said Tuesday.

The partnership comes just in time to address current market needs in communications and technology, added Pierre-Paul Allard, senior vice president of worldwide sales and president at Avaya Global Field Operations.

“Businesses are increasingly seeking alternative models for deploying and managing innovative communications and collaboration technologies,” Allard said.

“We expect that base (of HP-Avaya shared customers) to grow significantly with this new model, supporting the world’s collaboration business environment,” he added.

The HP-Avaya agreement will involve the transfer of several members and contractors of the Avaya Private Cloud Services team to the HP ES business process services group.
