The Federal Trade Commission will conduct a big data workshop on Sept. 15 in Washington.
Four panel discussions will cover an agenda based around the use and impact of big data on consumers, the FTC said Friday.
For the “Assessing the Current Environment” portion, the panel will discuss current big data applications.
During the “What’s on the Horizon with Big Data?” discussion,  the panel will identify potential uses of big data and potential effects to consumers
The panel will examine the relevance of antidiscrimination and consumer protection laws to big data applications during the “Surveying the Legal Landscape” section.
“Mapping the Path Forward” will explore big data best practices for consumer protection.
