Northrop Grumman and Cyber Security Challenge U.K. have partnered to hold a competition meant to foster cyber talent and inspire students to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering and math fields.
The U.K.’s CyberCenturion contest will be based on the Northrop-sponsored CyberPatriot challenge for U.S. secondary students, Northrop said Monday.
“CyberPatriot has grown at a phenomenal rate as young people are inspired by the opportunity to learn technical cyber defence skills while also developing their skills in leadership, teamwork and communication,” said Diane Miller, Northrop’s CyberPatriot program director.
“I’m thrilled that students across the U.K. will have this wonderful opportunity, thanks to the vision of Cyber Security Challenge U.K. and the support of our outstanding association partner, the Air Force Association,” Miller added.
CyberCenturion is slated to commence later this year and will see U.K. high school teams performing virtual tasks to identify and fix security vulnerabilities in a mock computing network.
Participants will be given six hours to finish their tasks within a two-day window, according to Northrop.
