Cloud computing has dominated the Department of Veterans Affairs‘ information technology spending via the Transformation Twenty-One Total Technology contract vehicle, totaling an estimated $153 million spread across several projects, according to Deltek‘s Alex Rossino.
Rossino, a principal research analyst, writes Tuesday that VA’s cloud spending mainly focuses on mobile and health IT capabilities and services.
“In this sense, the VA has been using T4 for precisely the purpose that it was developed – to speed the acquisition of core technologies central to fulfilling the agency’s mission,” Rossino says.
He indicates that the top three projects where the VA awarded cloud contracts are for mobile device management and mobile application environment ($49 million), mobile infrastructure-as-a-service ($34 million) and cloud computing services ($28 million).
The VA has also used the General Services Administration‘s Schedule IT 70 to award more cloud contracts worth another $29 million, the report said.
