A subsidiary of Booz Allen Hamilton plans to unveil a deployable broadband communications system to support the information-sharing functions of first responders and public safety workers in the aftermath of an emergency.
The firm said Monday that Booz Allen Hamilton Engineering Services will exhibit the system at this week’s APCO 2014 Conference in New Orleans.
The deployable communications system is intended to operate alongside the LTE-based FirstNet nationwide public safety network to help facilitate emergency communications and sharing of voice, video and data between first responders.
According to Booz Allen, its satellite communications system also uses local data servers and routing alongside broadband satellite links to balance the load on bandwidth.
It also has features for system virtualization and support from multiple application servers and data repositories to separate local data from externally shared data.
Security measures include IPsec, firewalls, peered access and tools to create remote virtual private networks.
Booz Allen said the firm also provides shared hosted applications and manages the deployed system nodes to supplement the service.
